In Summary

The 2020-2021 fashion trends left us wanting more. We spent two years at our homes, wearing nothing but our PJs, only ever-changing the half that showed up on video calls. 2022 is offering us the chance to shake things up and follow the fashion trends laid out by the recent fashion weeks. We are looking to the runways and fashion magazines to let us know what is in style. From streetwear to recent celebrity changes, have a look at some ways that you can up your style too.

The recent fashion week has offered us a variety of looks already. Rihanna has been dressing up her baby bump to the nines, steering far away from boring maternity wear. Julia Fox made headlines momentarily as she sported amazing looks and dark eyes. We also saw Naomi Campbell make her return to the runway since announcing the birth of her child. Some of the trends to look forward to having been discussed below.

The return of the miniskirt

Miu Miu debuted some of the shortest skirts we have seen. The ultra-cropped skirt has already been featured in various magazines and worn by the likes of the recent fashionista, Zendaya. The skirt features the barest amount of fabric that has divided critics. But while people debate if the skirt is weird or fun, its demand is on the rise.

Bold Shoulders

Bold tailoring was shown frequently on the runway as women wore blazers and outfits that featured gigantic proportions. Dolce & Gabbana featured shoulder pads underneath their blazers and double-breasted suits. The same could be observed in Valentino and Louis Vuitton to show off the oversized outfits. Bulky blazers were also paraded on Saint Laurent’s runway and are being talked about constantly.

70s Drapes

Everyone sporting curtain bangs now have an excuse to grow them out. This curtain fringe allows you to frame the face and can be parted according to your choices. (Even if you would like to opt for the side part). The fringe adds instant softness and can be styled even when you tie your hair.

Textured Knitwear

Knitwear made a more dramatic return to the fall 2022 runway. The outfits displayed fluffy, hairy wools that stood out on the runways. Keep your boring fabrics aside and don the styles that were displayed by Hermes and Loewe.

Keep It Classic

The classic white shirt and blue jeans combo is making a triumphant return. While there are a variety of dramatic cuts and designs that are very popular this season, the classics were reinvented for the runway too. Bottega Veneta debuted a leather version of the look while Connor Ives offered viewers a fun look with models sporting jeans and shirts. The simplest yet coolest look is back with a bang this year.

Shimmers and Shines

Another trend brought to the runway by Bottega Veneta was the sparkly slip dress that was seen in lilac and yellow shades. Erdem took it one step forward, featuring slip dresses with glittering and shimmering embroidery all over. The simple silk slip dress will not cut it this year. Shiny dresses are back with a bang this season.

Red Hair

If Kendall Jenner has finally dyed her brunette hair to a copper shade, the trend is bound to be popular. Sydney Sweeney, starring in Euphoria, was also seen sporting red hair instead of her signature blond locks. The trend may have begun in 2021, but it only recently gained popularity this year.

Metallic Shades

We are seeing a rise in metallic eyeshadows this year. If you’ve seen The Batman, Catwoman sports a sparkly silver shadow throughout the movie that takes her to look up a notch. Metallics are going to be huge all year round and there are a variety of metallic products that can amp up your style.

Tanks

Tank tops and singlets dominated the runways. Models sported the casual look on Chloe and Prada. Hunter Schaffer sported a classic white tank on the runway over a skirt that was the highlight of the show. The tanks were also designed as dresses, giving the dress a sportier edge.

Blush Contour

Contour can help in sculpting the face. But instead of slathering on bronzer, makeup artists are now using blush to achieve sharp jawlines. Blend the blush on your temples, cheekbones, and your cheeks to bring a natural flush to your face.
